Why Choose Faisal N. Jawdat For the Obscure Board

I'm a professional computer geek and amateur storyteller taking time out to study in Pittsburgh. I grew up in the DC area, attended Carnegie Mellon University, returned to Maryland in 1994, moved to California 5 years ago and to Pennsylvania this summer. I've been active in the Obscure community for about nine years now, and I've built and maintained a number of software systems we run on Obscure (for example, I do a lot with spamassassin and other mail tools).

In the past I have worked in management consulting, software, telecommunications, and venture capital. As a consultant I did a lot of work for not-for-profit organizations in the arts.

I'm running for Obscure's board for the same reason I ran for it last year -- to help Obscure grow as an organization which helps people's lives and goals through technology and community. To that end I plan to help guide early projects, to help set directions, and to help with fundraising where appropriate.
